Wadi Musa

The Nabataean rock-cut city entered through a 1.2 km siq, with the Treasury facade, a Roman-era street, royal tombs and the Monastery an hour's climb above. Carved by the Nabataeans as their capital from around the 4th century BC, the city became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1985. Expect long walks on uneven ground; a full day or more lets you reach the Monastery and the High Place of Sacrifice.
