How Guidese calculates trip costs

Guidese trip costs are the sum of recorded average daily costs per traveler for accommodation, food, local transport and activities, at budget, mid-range and luxury level. Every figure keeps its source link and research date. International flights are excluded, currencies are never mixed, and missing data is shown as unavailable.

What is included in a daily cost?

Every daily cost is per person per day, excluding international flights, two sharing a room.

A daily cost is the sum of four recorded categories per traveler: accommodation, food, local transport and activities, plus "Other" for small extras such as a local SIM card, tips and small purchases. International flights, visas and insurance are not included.

A trip total is the daily cost multiplied by the number of days and travelers, plus entrance fees for the places you add when those fees are recorded.

Where does the data come from?

Figures come from primary sources first: official tourism boards, official attraction and operator price pages, and published price lists. Each record stores the source URL and the date it was researched, and the source is listed on the page.

Automatically researched figures are held for staff review before they are published. Manually verified figures are never overwritten by automatic research.

What do budget, mid-range and luxury mean?

Budget assumes hostels or simple guesthouses, local eateries and public transport. Mid-range assumes 3-star hotels, sit-down restaurants and occasional taxis. Luxury assumes 4–5 star hotels, fine dining and private transfers.

How are currencies handled?

Each figure is shown in the currency it was recorded in. Rows in a different currency are left out of a total instead of being converted silently, so a total never mixes currencies.

What happens when data is missing?

Missing prices are shown as unavailable. They are never counted as zero and never shown as free. If a city has no city-level costs, the page says it is using country averages.

How often are prices reviewed?

Every type of information has a review interval. Costs are due for review at least quarterly, and entrance fees are checked by a scheduled process. Pages show the date prices were last reviewed. That date only changes when the data actually changes.

Yes. Daily costs are per traveler. Trip totals multiply the daily cost by days and travelers.

No. International flights are excluded from every daily cost and trip total.

Can I check the source of a price?

Yes. Pages with cost data list the source websites behind the numbers in a Sources section.
