Ålesund
Ålesund was rebuilt in Art Nouveau after a 1904 fire and is the most architecturally coherent town on the Norwegian coast, spread over islands at the mouth of the Geirangerfjord system. The Aksla steps give a view over the whole pattern of islands. It is the western end of the Trollstigen and Geiranger driving routes.
